- Pinching
- Coiling
- Slab building

Time: 6pm
Each session takes 2 hours
During 6 weeks we teach:
- how to prepare the clay
- how to center the clay on the wheel
- how to make bowls
- how to make cylinders, cups and mugs
- how to the trim your pots
The last session is the introduction to glazing.
Before signing for this course we recommend you take ‘Pottery wheel – Introduction’ session.

Pottery wheel – Introduction

Time: 2.30pm
This session is perfect for anyone who wants to ‘have a go’ on the pottery wheel.
Session includes:
- how to prepare clay for throwing
- centring clay
- opening
- pinching and finishing
During this session each participant will have the chance to make several attempts at making pots.
The amount of clay to use is up to 3kg.
The price does not include any firing or glazing.

Japanese Style Throwing Taster
2 hour Japanese Style Throwing Taster

A 2-hour class for beginners with wheel experience/intermediate – throwing off the hump
Tutor: Yoko Romita
In this fun introductory course to Japanese-style throwing, you will learn how to produce pots more efficiently, advance your throwing techniques and use handmade Japanese-style tools. Yoko will teach you how to throw pots off the hump (a method widely used in Japan), spiral wedge clay and throw cups and bud vases using methods adapted from Japanese throwing techniques.
